Band Ensembles

Band is an elective for all students at Stanley Middle School. Currently, there are four bands: Two Cadet, Silver, and Symphonic. Students are placed at their ability level at the beginning of the school year.

Cadet bands focus on fundamentals, including fingerings, learning some major scales, basic rhythms, and learning how to play in large groups with multiple instruments.  In cadet band, there are more instrument options than in elementary school.  Some of these include: Saxophone (alto, tenor, baritone), F Horn, oboe, bassoon, euphonium, tuba.

Silver Band extends the students knowledge of fingerings, begin study of all 12 major scales and some minor scales, extending chromatic scales, more complex rhythms and time signatures.

Symphonic Band extend student knowledge further, with more minor scales, complex rhythms and repertoire, odd meters.

  Smart Music™

We recommend parents purchase SmartMusic for their children to enhance and improve musical skills. With SmartMusic, students play in context with progressional background accompaniment, giving them pitch and rhythmic reference, and provides immediated feedback onscreen. SmartMusic is available for desktops, laptops and tablets.

Stanley Music believes that all children should be allowed to play and, as skill levels progress through the years, each child should be challenged based on ability and interest level.
