Loretta McNulty

About Loretta McNulty

Loretta McNulty is a String Specialist in the Lafayette and Mt. Diablo School Districts.  Her career has included teaching at all levels--elementary through university--in the East, South, and Midwest as well as California.  She served as Bay Section Orchestra Representative for four years, was a member of the American String Teachers Association School Task Force for the following six, and was a member of the Cazadero Board.  Additionally, she has presented sessions at conferences for Bay Section, CMEA, and MENC as well as being a clinician for Boosey & Hawkes.  Loretta has taught pedagogy workshops at San Francisco State and the Institute for String Teaching at George Mason University.  In 1997, she was a member of the first ASTA delegation to visit conservatories in China.  She is currently Member-at-Large for the California unit of ASTA.
 
Loretta has been a member of the Massapequa Symphony on Long Island, NY, the Diablo Symphony (Assistant Concertmaster), and the orchestra at Holy Names University.  Her private students have performed in local youth orchestras, and the Stanley Middle School Orchestra has twice performed at the Bay Section Winter Conference.  Loretta's articles have been published in the American String Teacher and Selmer's Orchestra News.  She conducted the Bay Section Conference Orchestras in 1991 and 2006.
 
Loretta received her B.M.E. and M.Mus. degrees from the Indiana University School of Music.  In 2006, she was honored by the California Music Educators Association with the Richard L. Levin Orchestra Educator Award "honoring excellence in orchestra instruction and performance."
